Consul Sheryll Gabutero recently held a courtesy meeting with Buddy Malbasias, following the success of Bahala staged last year at Metro Arts. Bahala is a contemporary Filipino performance work exploring identity, migration, and resilience, contributing meaningfully to Brisbane’s multicultural arts landscape.
Mr Malbasias visited the Consulate on 23 March 2026 to provide updates on his current projects in Indonesia and to explore potential collaborations with the Philippine Consulate in Queensland to further support and elevate the local arts scene. The meeting reflects the Consulate’s ongoing commitment to fostering cultural exchange and strengthening connections within the creative community.
